Frequently asked questions

Fit, application, removal, shipping and the guarantee — the things worth knowing before you skin your gear. Still stuck? Ask us directly.

Will a vinyl skin damage my device or leave residue?

No. ElektronSkins are made from removable matte vinyl with a repositionable adhesive. Peel slowly from a corner and the skin lifts off clean, leaving no residue and no marks on the device underneath. Nothing is permanently altered, so applying a skin does not modify the hardware.

Is a skin hard to apply?

No. It is peel-and-stick — no heat gun and no tools beyond the squeegee included in the box. Most people finish in about 10 minutes: clean the panel, dry-fit the skin, peel a little backing at a time and smooth outward from the centre so air escapes ahead of the vinyl.

Will the skin fit my exact model?

Each skin is precision-cut for one specific device layout, so every knob, pad, screen and port stays clear. It is not a universal or trim-to-fit sheet. Match the exact model name on the listing — a Digitakt II skin does not fit the original Digitakt, because the panel layouts differ.

Does a Digitakt skin fit the Digitakt II?

No. The Digitakt II has a different top-panel layout from the original Digitakt, so the cutouts do not line up. ElektronSkins cuts each design for one named model; buy the skin listed for the exact device you own.

Which devices do you make skins for?

Akai MPC Sample, Elektron Tonverk and Elektron Digitakt II are available now, with hundreds of designs for each. Elektron Digitone II and Elektron Syntakt are in production and listed as coming soon.

How much does a skin cost?

Skins start at $29.99, with the Elektron Tonverk at $39.99. US shipping is free on every order, so the listed price is what you pay.

How long does shipping take?

Orders are made to order and ship from the USA within 1–3 business days. US delivery is typically another 3–5 business days after dispatch, and tracking is emailed the moment the package leaves. Shipping within the United States is free.

Do you ship internationally?

Not yet. ElektronSkins currently ships within the United States only. International shipping is planned but is not offered at the moment, so orders cannot be placed for delivery outside the US.

What if the skin does not fit or arrives damaged?

You are covered by a 30-day fit and defect guarantee. A print defect, a cutout that does not line up, or damage in transit means a free replacement or a full refund — your choice, at no cost and with no return shipping to arrange. Email elektronskins@gmail.com with your order number and a photo.

Can I return a skin if I simply change my mind?

No. Every skin is cut and printed to order for one specific device, so change-of-mind returns are not accepted. Faulty, misaligned or damaged items are always covered by the 30-day guarantee.

Can I send my own artwork for a custom skin?

Yes. Send your own design, logo or a written description through the custom order page and you receive a free proof fitted to your exact device before anything is printed. Nothing is charged until you approve the proof. One-off single orders are welcome.

Does a skin protect the device?

It adds a matte vinyl layer that helps against light scratches, dust and everyday studio and stage wear. It is cosmetic protection, not impact protection — it will not shield a device from being dropped.

Can I remove and reposition the skin while applying it?

Yes. The adhesive is repositionable, so if an edge lifts or the alignment is off you can peel it back gently and lay it down again. Work at room temperature — cold vinyl is stiff and warm vinyl stretches.

Who makes ElektronSkins?

ElektronSkins is operated by Tires FX Inc in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Every design is original artwork, and skins are printed and packed by hand in the USA.
